Ashen Breath-st cd (2004, Punk.gr Records)

This is cd but it comes in a nice 7 inch package, it looks like a 7" ep, so you could put it in your seven inch record collection,ok?
Ashen Breath (Anasa Stahti) was formed in Athens,Greece in 1992 including members of Isopedosi, Chaotic End, Skatopsychoi(Soulshited), Anaviosi(Revival) and Akros Antithetoi(Radically Against). They recorded and (self)released their eponymous lp in 1994 (DIY Records- DIY-001) which is the first release of Villa Amalias Squat label), they contributed two tracks in the legendary Diataraksi Oikiakis Eirinis (Disturbance of Domestic Peace) compilation (1996, on DIY Records too), they played many gigs in Greece and toured in Germany (1996) and finally split up around 1997-98. Members went on in Anatellon Tromos (Rising Terror), a metallic crust band and recently a new act named Atopia was born.
This cd was released by Punk.gr Records in 2004, is a kind of discography consisting the lp plus the tracks from the Distarbunce of Domestic Peace comp. I had a copy for free of this from Tasos, the guy who's behind the label and the legendary and now defunct punk.gr website. Punk gr Records also released the Panikos and Naytia discography cd-r back in 2002
So, what we got here? Metal influenced crust with aggressive riffs, harsh vocals, fast/midpaced tempos, hard beating rhythm section with many tempo changes, strong political lyrics and good sound production. Lyrics deal about isolation in the modern world, religion, thirst for power etc in a personal and poetic view. The guy who sings was the first vocalist of Chaotic End
CD's artwork is taken from the lp, the cover folds out and becomes a poster with lyrics texts, translation in english and artwork theme for each track connected with the lyrical content. An interview in the "Audiatur Et Alter Pars" Zine is included as well
The vinyl is out of print and if you ever find a copy then the price will be a pain in the ass.. its sad the fact that they recorded only nine tracks, they could have done much more...
Tracklist:
1. Sta granazia tou avrio(in the gears of tomorrow)
2. Kelia aniparksias(Cells of non-existence)
3. Katalipa agapis(Remainders of love)

G-anx-masterpeace 7"

Here is a text about G-Anx biography taken from the Swedishpunk website, apparently written by a member of band:
"Started as Gravida Anker (Pregnant Ducks) in Huskvarna, Sweden 1982. Gravida Anker were playing some old school midtempo punkrock, but the following years they were infiltrated by the young noisecore extremists from Penisknyckarna (Steve, Putte & Hoccy) and the name was cut down to G-ANX in '84. A few years later the last original member Sonnerby was replaced by Hedda. With this final setting we rehearsed approx. 20 times until the split-up in '91 (it's better to split up than to be infiltrated and replaced). We also performed about 20 gigs and recorded 4 vinyl-ep:s - that's all folks. The last ep was supposed to be an album, but some tapes were erased by mistake(?) and we didn't have the energy to complete it."
This four track 7" was released by Elderberry Records (E.B.-001) back in 1990 and it is the third of the four ep's they released back in late 80's early 90's. From the hardcore attack of "the narrow path' and 'You",to the acoustic intros of "Clouds or cancer" and 'Life?' this record is simply what it name says, slightly paraphrased: A masterpiece of fast swedish hardcore with bashing drums, shouting vocals and raging guitars with some melodic and acoustic parts
Sound Pollution Records released 'Flashbacks cd" in 1993 including their vinyl material plus a few tracks from compilations. G-Anx disbanded in 1991 and some members(Hoccy & Steve) formed Counterblast.
Tracklist:
1. The narrow path
2. Clouds or cancer
3. Life?
4. You

They also have the Grindcore 10" and a 40 track Discography cd including the 10" and their tracks from splits w Cripple Bastards, Gored Face, and Hypotalasias, also some bonus tracks are included

the Insane/The Skeptix-split 7"

Lets dive back into 80's with a vinyl that brings me a lot of memories from the past, especially the Skeptix side, this intro was my fave part of all Skeptix songs and i could listen it again and again..
The Insane were a UK punk band formed in Wigan in late 1970's. They released one full lenght and 4 ep's including this split. Two boot LP's were put out in 2005 and 07 with live & demo recordings from the early 80's
Skeptix is a legendary UK band, Do i have to say more about them? they are back in action, some old stuff of their's was re-released recently, check their web site for more..
The Insane's side is one punk rock track. Old punk isn't by fave genre so this not my cup of tea but not bad at all. Skeptix side is one track too but more aggressive with a nice slow intro, promising the coming storm and after a while turning into a uk hardcore attack. One of my fave Skeptix tracks but the shittiest cover artwork ever.. (sorry Fish...). Released in 1984 on White Rose Records
Tracklist:
Insane: Berlin wall
Skeptix:Vendeta

Extreme Noise Terror-Punker than punk 7"

We got election for new government today: Blue neoliberals vs green neoliberals and the communist party comes third and exhausted. A bunch of socialistic, patriotic, etc parties follow.. People blindly vote in the great celebration of democracy free economy and free market, making you wanna vomit, i feel sick today and its now the beers i drunk last night the reason why ...
Anyway, back to posting now: Punked than punk from ENT is a collage of different recordings collected together in 7 inches, this was found on Buck's State Control blog sometime ago. This is a bootleg collection of cover songs coming from different recordings,Tributes, Peel sessions etc. ENT present here their versions on Sham 69, The Killjoys, Cockney Rejects and Discharge tracks

Tracklist:
1. Borstal breakout (Sham 69)
2. Johnny won't get to heaven (The Killjoys)
3. You take part in creating this system (Discharge)
4. I'm a bloody fool (Cockney Rejects)
5. No TV sketch (Discharge)

Hakuchi-God's disturb 7"

This is Hakuchi's second ep, released on Overthrow Records in 1993 .
Hakuchi come from Japan, they were formed in early 90's and were a pre-AGE band, so you know what you gonna get here: Crusty hardcore with some metal elements here and there, powerful riffs in mid paced tempos and harsh vocals. An insert with lyrics texts was included and a sticker as well. Their discography includes as far as i know 3 demos, 2 ep's (Fall a sacrifice to delightness 7" and God's disturb) and one track in the Niigata City Hardcore 7" comp. (w Disarm, Frequent and Rustic Top Dogs). The vinyl recorded material plus the 3rd demo appear in the Disclose/Hakuchi split lp( Love & Hope, 1998)

Tracklist:
1. Disturb
2. World in a mess
3. The tragedy to be expected

Patareni/Cripple Bastards-split 7"

This is the split of legendary italian grinders Cripple bastards with the croatian grind pioneers Patareni, released back in 1994 on Regurgitated Semen Records. About 500 copies were made (Davor from Patareni claims about 700 copies).
Patareni contribute six tracks of their brutal old school grindcore(plus an intro and an outro) including two covers (Misfits and Extreme Noise Terror), i really don't know if the rest tracks are original or covers. Cripple Bastards offer six tracks too in the vein of "Life's built on thoughts 7", covering King Crimson's 21st Century schizoid man and Indigesti's "Mass media"(indigesti were a hardcore band from Italy in early 80's), according to inlay's text, these tracks were recorded in CB's rehersal room in autum of '93.
There is a 10" re-release of this on Havin' A Spazz Records with some bonus tracks(21 tracks in tracklist) and some artwork differences.
There are some conflicting feelings inside me about posting a CB record:They would never be considered as political band and there is some bullshit about them floating around the web.. i don't know..
Tracklist:
Patareni:
1. Intro
2. Last caress (Misfits)
3. Murder(Extreme Noise Terror)
4. Ich gehe zur schule
5. Bomba
6. Fuck y.o.u.
7. Kill the boys.. '85
8. Outro
Cripple Bastards
1. Life in general
2. Disagreeable selections
3. 21st century schizoid man(King Crimson)
4. Hydrophobic web
5. Mass media(Indigesti)
6. Grimcorpses

Skitsystem/Wolfpack-split 7''

A classic split ep with two bands carrying a long long history in the Swedish scene: Skitsystem was born from the ashes of the almighty deathsters At the Gates (incuding AtG drummer and guitarist/vocalist) and Wolfpack(later Wolfbrigade) were connected with a bunch of great bands (Asta Kask,Anti Cimex,To What End?,Cosa Nostra,Obscure Infinity etc)
Distortion Records released their split in 1998 and re-released it three more times on white vinyl, it deliverss five tracks of brutal raw crustcore, three Skitsystem thunders (actually these tracks are outakes from Ondskand ansikte 10“) and two Wolfpack blasts (one track from Lycanthropo punk and one totally new). This was the last Wolfpack/Wolfbrigade release with Johnsson (Anti Cimex fame) handling the vocals duties, right after this he was forced to leave the band.
Check Skitststem 's website for infos and free mp3 downloading of their discography, yes they offer all their recorded material for downloading free, check also the brand new Wolfbrigade site (both are not active anymore) so try Skitsystem in facebook and myspace and Wolfbrifage's facebook and myspace (they say "seriously considering leaving Myspace....Myspace is shit nowadays. This page will be deleted")
Tracklist
Skitsystem:
1. Levande lik
2. Slaves to misery
3. Civiliserad?
Wolfpack:
1. A basic urge to kill
2. Today's overdose

V/A-Meaningful consolidation 2x7"

And now its time for the Meaningful Consolidation comp, as i have wrote in Smashing Oddness post a few days ago: This is another great compilation coming from Japan including some legends of the 90's: Iconoclast, Disclose, CFDL, Defiance, Anti-Authorize and S.D.S. in an awesome combination. Double ep, 15 tracks and total running time about 24 minutes: From the pure d-beat of Disclose and the punky hardcore of CFDL, to the metallic crust of Defiance and crust-japcore onslaught of S.D.S., Anti-Authorize, Iconoclast and Abraham Cross. It was released in 1996 on a bunch of labels (Blurred/DIY/Icons of Crust/Forest/Yasuo), actually these are bands own labels.
Sometimes you may find this double ep considered as Pt2 of Tokyo Crusties comp, but this is not official Pt2. Defiance is(was? any info anyone!) a Japanese band and not the band from PDX or Ohio USA.
I do not understand not a single japanese letter but in some japanese pages in english this was sold out/out of print.
Tracklist:
01. Iconoclast-Warlike nation
02. Iconoclast-Peace and blind
03. Disclose-Children not knowing peace
04. Disclose-Battlefield
05. C.F.D.L.-45 revolution
06. C.F.D.L.-Punx rules
07. Anti-Authorize-Greed and deceit
08. Anti-Authorize-The past meaning
09. Defiance-intro-Future is darkness
10. Abraham Cross-Bad circulate
11. Abraham Cross-In there
12. S.D.S-False freedom
13. S.D.S-Distort hope
14. S.D.S.-Hell storm
15. S.D.S.-Naked scream
ps: Anti authorize and S.D.S.tracks are connected each other for each band so its one mp3 for Anti authorize(2 tracks) and one for S.D.S.(4 tracks)

V/A-Smashing Odds Ness 8"

I was thinking about posting Meaningful Consolidation double ep but Smashing Odds Ness is chronologically closer to 'Na eller aldri' so here it is: Released by Odds Ness Records in 1988, it delivers in eight inches of vinyl, five bands in eight tracks and 14:40" running time of japanese hardcore: Idora, Don Don, Mink Oil, Crόck and Death Side. Death Side seem to be the stars here but the rest bands do not stay behind contributing excellent tracks too. From the devastating hardcore of Don Don and Idora to the punky hardcore of Mink Oil and finally Crόck and Death Side turn off the lights after destroying everything. This was followed by Smashing Odds Ness 2-Go ahead make my day LP in 1989, including some other legends of 80's Japcore(Fearless Vampire Killers, Bastard, Asbestos, Sic, Sicilian Blood, Complete, Sweats, Idora and Don Don)
Tracklist:
1. Idora:Double bind
2. Idora:Absent time
3. Don Don:Satisfy
4. Don Don:Destruction
5. Mink Oil:Heartbreak
6. Mink Oil:Youth of height
7. Crόck:Stay
8. Death Side:Stick & hole
